Stuart Weiss, Founder and CEO

Weiss began his publishing career almost 30 years ago after a brief career as a special education teacher. He served as sales manager of Travelhost of Denver before becoming associate publisher of Travelhost of Boulder and northern Colorado. Weiss relocated to the Triangle in the mid-1990s, where he took over the reins of Travelhost of the Triangle. In 2000, he founded Wakefield Plantation magazine, the precursor to Wake Living magazine.

 

David Hughes, President and Publisher

Hughes, a North Carolina native, has been in the publishing business for more than 25 years, starting his career in the newspaper industry with The Charlotte Observer, a McClatchy property previously owned by Knight Ridder. He also worked with Media General and Freedom Newspaper Group before gravitating toward niche magazine publishing. Hughes has served as marketing and circulation director with Auto Trader publications in Charlotte and Raleigh, and as a regional director with HPC, a division of Primedia Publishing Group, and Network Communications in Atlanta. He became co-owner of Weiss & Hughes Publishing Inc. in 2004.

 

 

Danielle Jackson, Editor

Jackson, who joined the company in 2008, has more than 10 years of publishing experience. An Elon graduate, she has served as editor of a variety of publications covering everything from the Triangle business community to women's issues to automation trends. Jackson leads editorial for Wake Living and its sister publications, Fifteen501 and Triad Living.

 

 

Connie Carley, Creative Director

Carley has more than 25 years experience in the publishing and graphics field, including serving as a designer, art director, production manager and creative director for the Water Well Journal in Dublin, Ohio; Scott Publishing in Livonia, Mich.; Thompson Publishing in Cincinnati; Puttin' On the Dog and Quadras Inc. of Atlanta. She has been with the company for the past five years.
