Several area museums are expected to participate in Smithsonian magazine's eighth annual Museum Day Live! Event, which will be held Sept. 29. The event features free admission into participating museums and cultural institutions across the country.

During the event - a nationwide celebration of culture, science, history and education - museum-goers will receive free access to museums simply by downloading a ticket from its website. More than 1,400 museums and cultural institutions across the country are expected to be part of the event.
