Southern Village announces ninth annual farmers market season
Southern Village will open its farmers market from 3:30-6:30 p.m. May 3. Held each Thursday in the center of Market Street adjacent to the Village Green, the market will enter its ninth season in Chapel Hill. The market will run through Oct. 25.
In addition to KidsZone, the Southern Village Farmers Market will have several other features that make it more than just a farmers market. It also will have fresh seafood each week, a master gardener table and farmers donating unsold or excess produce that the public can donate as well to feed those in need locally.
Items sold at the Southern Village Farmers Market will include produce, flowers, baked goods, Angus beef, North Carolina seafood, artisanal pickles and preserves, and hand-crafted items. Most of the vendors from previous farmers market will return this year, and there will be an assortment of new vendors as well, including Brinkley Farms, Carolina Brewery, Eco Farm, Hillsborough Cheese Co., Laurent Lavender Farm, Lookout Seafood, and Swanfire Farm.
