The businesses and management of Southern Village have announced the 2012 Sundays at Six Series, which will kick off this weekend with Armand Lenchek, Danny Gotham and Cal Johnson. Concerts begin at 6 p.m. and run weekly through Oct. 14, with the exception of Sept. 30.

Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating and to bring a picnic or purchase food from a Southern Village food establishment. All performances are free and will be held on the stage at the Village Green.

The music will range from rock to blues to jazz to bluegrass to Klezmer to Grateful Dead tributes. On July 8, the Brother Esau Grateful Dead-style Jam Band will be joined by Robbi Cohn, official photographer and archivist for The Grateful Dead for more than 20 years.

On June 1, a free performance will be held by the North Carolina Symphony. This is the 13th year that the organization has performed under the stars at Southern Village. It begins at 7:30 p.m.

Also, from June 8-29 Fridays will be the Music Maker Roots and Leaves Series, presented by Music Maker Relief Organization, whose mission is to keep alive the many genres of traditional Southern music.
