Festifall seeks performers for October annual event
Chapel Hill's Festifall is seeking performers for its upcoming event, which will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Oct. 7 downtown. The festival has a rich history of celebrating local performing artists. Entertainers are chosen to showcase local talent for a diverse arts festival crowd on one of the festival's stages. A publicity campaign, in addition to performing for the 15,000 or so event patrons, provides great exposure for those who volunteer their time and talents. Entertainers are welcome to sell band merchandise at the event as well.
"Given many new aspects of the event this year, we're looking for street performers and roving musicians in addition to groups to perform on a stage," says Steve Wells, chair of the Festifall entertainment selection committee.
The Town of Chapel Hill is seeking children's entertainers, bands, dancers and street performers for this year's event. Provisions by the town include covered stages, PA system and sound engineering, light refreshments, and free assigned parking. A table will be provided for entertainers to sell merchandise during the event.
The selection committee is made up of local community members involved in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro music scene. Completed entertainment submissions must be emailed, postmarked or dropped off by 5 p.m. May 30. Submissions postmarked after the deadline may not be considered.
